Celebrate the Year of the Dog in Chinatown

Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations heat up this February with special menu offerings, markets and tours of Chinatown through February 12. Expected to attract more than 350,000 participants and spectators, the Lunar New Year Parade and Festival on February 5 features traditional lion dances, ornately decorated floats, marching bands, cultural performances, and new this year, a special dog parade in honor of the 2006 Year of the Dog where dogs from local animal rescue organizations will be available for adoption.

Madison Square Garden goes to the dogs February 13 and 14 during the world-famous Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Judging for Work, Terrier, Non-sporting and toy breeds is February 13, and Sporting, Hound and Herding breeds will go before the judges February 14.

 Flamenco Festival

More than 60 dancers, vocalists and guitarists direct from Andalucia and Madrid will showcase various forms of Flamenco, the traditional Spanish dance featuring mesmerizing guitar and fast-moving feet.
